Anurag Kamal, co-founder of ElectricFish, shares his vision for transforming the electrical grid and advancing electric vehicle (EV) charging technology in today’s episode.

Kamal explains how ElectricFish’s community-scale batteries provide backup power for neighborhoods and enable ultra-fast EV charging. These systems integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure to predict outages, store energy, and support renewable sources such as solar and wind.

He also reflects on his journey from writing a thesis at Michigan Tech to working at BMW, where he developed the idea for decentralized energy storage networks. “The grid is old,” Kamal says, “but our technology can transform it without disruption.”

Kamal highlights his company’s focus on innovation, such as powering Air Force non-tactical EVs and securing awards from Homeland Security for backup energy solutions. He discusses the challenges of creating domestic supply chains and achieving cost efficiency while maintaining sustainability.
