William Ruger discussed the issue with NTD. He's a retired U.S. Navy officer, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, and the president of the American Institute for Economic Research. He says that instead of focusing so much on Biden's withdrawal or Trump's decision to leave Afghanistan, congress should question why both military and civilian leaders kept the United States in "a 20-year forever war with no theory of strategic victory."
