NBC’s “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie has spoken out in her first television interview since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared from her Arizona home in February.

Ms. Guthrie spoke with her colleague Hoda Kotb in a tearful interview that aired on the network on Wednesday.

“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” Savannah Guthrie said in a preview of the taped interview.

“And to think of what she went through,” she added. “I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night,” Savannah Guthrie said. “And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”

Nancy Guthrie was last seen by a family member at her Tucson home on Jan. 31. She was reported missing on Feb. 1.

Savannah Guthrie had previously acknowledged that her mother may no longer be alive.

The 84-year-old’s disappearance garnered national attention as law enforcement received thousands of leads, but came up empty.

The FBI recovered images from Nancy Guthrie’s front door surveillance camera showing an armed and masked man tampering with the camera the morning she vanished. Based on the security footage, the suspect has been described by law enforcement as a male, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” in height, with an average build.

Throughout the investigation, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings shared videos on social media, urging the person who took their mother to bring her back home.

The Guthrie family has offered a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DVJKU2wADV3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$1 million reward</a> for information leading to the recovery of their mother. Separately, an additional $102,500 is being offered through Tucson Crime Stoppers, along with the FBI’s $100,000 reward.

Meanwhile, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has warned the public to “remain vigilant” and refrain from sending any money to anyone claiming to raise money for the case.

“Please be advised there is no official GoFundMe or any fundraising effort associated with the Guthrie investigation,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a March 24 <a href="https://x.com/PimaSheriff/status/2036561821692469285?s=20">statement</a> on X. “Billboard displays are funded through official channels. Any claims suggesting otherwise are fraudulent and will be investigated accordingly.”

Savannah Guthrie, who has worked as a cohost of NBC’s morning show since 2012, is expected to return to TV screens at some point, although no date has been set.

The network plans to release the entire interview with Savannah Guthrie in two parts on March 26 and 27.
