Savannah Guthrie returned briefly to NBC’s Studio 1A on March 5 to greet colleagues and expressed plans to return to the air, though she remains focused on supporting her family as authorities continue searching for her missing mother.

“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio the morning of March 5 to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues,” the TODAY show said in a <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DVgeK7vgU3h/?hl=en">statement</a>. “While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy Guthrie home.”

Guthrie’s visit marked her first return to the studio since stepping away from the broadcast after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on Feb. 1.

During <a href="https://youtu.be/2Hg4kUdS_3g?si=TA3q1yAcvQKh3VPV">Thursday’s broadcast</a>, “TODAY” hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones described seeing Guthrie earlier in the day.

“Savannah has come back to her home here at 30 Rock and Studio 1A,” Bush Hager said on air. “We got to see her this morning, and in her perfect way she talked to all of us, hugged every single person in this room, the crew.”

Bush Hager said Guthrie told colleagues she hopes to return to the show, even though doing so “feels like the hardest thing to do,” adding that the studio remains a place where she feels supported.

Jones also addressed the visit, saying she admired Guthrie’s decision to stop by amid the ongoing investigation. “I’m proud of Savannah, and I’m rooting for Savannah,” Jones said. “I think her coming here just being able to be with us and for us to be able to hug her, I think it’s a step.”

The case surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains active. Authorities in Arizona have said investigators are making progress but have not yet identified a suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators are<a href="https://www.ntd.com/pima-sheriff-says-investigators-definitely-closer-to-finding-suspect-in-guthrie-case_1129973.html"> “definitely closer”</a> to finding the person responsible for the disappearance, telling NBC News that officials have gathered significant information and are continuing to pursue leads.

Nancy Guthrie was <a href="https://www.ntd.com/savannah-guthrie-makes-emotional-plea-to-mothers-captors_1124046.html">reported missing</a> after failing to attend a scheduled church service, and investigators believe she may have been taken from her Tucson-area home overnight.

Video <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/kidnap/nancy-guthrie">released earlier by the FBI</a> showed a masked individual wearing gloves and a backpack near the home the night she disappeared. Authorities have said the man appeared to be about 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build.

The Guthrie family has <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVJKU2wADV3/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==">offered</a> a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery or the arrest of a suspect.

Savannah Guthrie has also shared messages publicly during the search. In a recent <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DVZVuAdEsbM/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==">Instagram post</a>, she thanked supporters for their continued prayers and encouragement.

“We feel the love and prayers from our neighbors, from the Tucson community and from around the country,” she wrote. “Please don’t stop praying and hoping with us. Bring her home.”
