Baseball’s trade deadline is 24 hours away, and the team thought to be the biggest sellers—the New York Mets—haven't disappointed, trading away 3-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer—to the Texas Rangers, for a high-level prospect.

Scherzer is the game’s highest-paid player—at $43 million dollars a season—though New York will reportedly pay $35 of the nearly $60 million left on his contract, which runs through next season.

Now, Scherzer hasn’t put up the best numbers so far this year—with an ERA just over 4. But two years ago—after he was dealt from the Nationals to the Dodgers mid-season—he got especially hot, going 7-0 in 11 starts, with an ERA under 2, and finished third in the Cy Young voting.
