Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle testified before lawmakers on Monday, where she vowed to ensure an incident like the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump never happens again. Ms. Cheatle faced pressure to step down as strong criticism was leveled at her after a gunman made an attempt on former President Trump's life on July 13.

Ms. Cheatle said that what happened at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania was "the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades.” According to Jon Loew, an attorney and a member of the executive committee of IntelliTech International, in her testimony, Ms. Cheatle "gave lots of non-answers to great and important questions" asked by House members.
