A suspect accused of vandalizing the Newark office of acting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba has been apprehended, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Saturday.

Federal authorities captured the individual, Keith Michael Lisa, 51, just days after the alleged confrontation at Habba's office Wednesday. The suspect allegedly initially tried to enter the Peter W. Rodino Federal Building in Newark with a bat, but was turned away. He returned without the bat, entered the building, and proceeded to the U.S. Attorney's Office where he damaged property before fleeing the scene, according to the FBI.

"Thanks to the great work of @FBI, @USMarshalsHQ, and @HSI_HQ the suspect wanted in the attack on @USAttyHabba's office is now in custody," Bondi <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1989671028952351112?s=20">wrote</a>. "No one will get away with threatening or intimidating our great US Attorneys or the destruction of their offices."

Habba, who previously served as President Donald Trump's personal attorney and White House adviser, confirmed the arrest in her own social media post the same day.

"We got him," Habba <a href="https://x.com/USAttyHabba/status/1989675962716524684?s=20">wrote</a> on X. "This @TheJusticeDept under @AGPamBondi and our federal partners will not tolerate any acts of intimidation or violence toward law enforcement."

Habba thanked the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and U.S. Marshals Service for their work in capturing the suspect. She was not injured during Wednesday's confrontation.

The acting U.S. attorney remained defiant following the attack. "I will not be intimidated by radical lunatics for doing my job," Habba <a href="https://x.com/USAttyHabba/status/1989036105199501541?s=20">wrote</a> Thursday on X.

Bondi described the incident as part of a disturbing pattern targeting law enforcement officials nationwide. "This is unfortunately becoming a trend as radicals continue to attack law enforcement agents around the country," she <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1989024482560708818">wrote</a> Thursday.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, weighed in on the incident Thursday, stating he was relieved Habba was unharmed.

"It is absolutely unacceptable to make threats against federal officials," Murphy <a href="https://x.com/GovMurphy/status/1989073540054732944?s=20">wrote</a> on X. "Political violence has no place in our nation."

Trump initially appointed Habba as interim U.S. attorney in March before formally nominating her for the permanent position July 1.

However, New Jersey's two Democratic senators, Cory Booker and Andy Kim, opposed her nomination, stalling the confirmation process.

When Habba's 120-day interim appointment expired, federal judges in New Jersey attempted to replace her with her deputy. Bondi responded by firing that prosecutor and reappointing Habba as acting U.S. attorney.

The legality of Habba's appointment remains under judicial review. The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit heard arguments last month in a case challenging her appointment but has not yet issued a ruling.

Bondi emphasized zero tolerance for attacks on federal officers. "Any violence or threats of violence against any federal officer will not be tolerated. Period," she wrote on X on Thursday.
