A suspect has been charged in the Friday stabbing on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina. The male victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Court documents say the accused stabber is in the country illegally and was deported previously.

This incident comes just months after a Ukrainian refugee was fatally stabbed on the same train line, allegedly by a man with a lengthy criminal record. That case gained national attention after President Donald Trump reacted to it, criticizing what he considers soft-on-crime policies in Democrat-run cities.

The suspect in this latest stabbing has been identified as 33-year-old Oscar Solarzano. Local police say he's been charged with five counts, including attempted first-degree murder.

Trump took to Truth Social Saturday, writing, "Another stabbing by an Illegal Migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina. What’s going on in Charlotte? Democrats are destroying it, like everything else, piece by piece!"

In August, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee was fatally stabbed while riding the same train line. The suspect in that case, 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. was charged with first-degree murder and was indicted in October.

The administration has taken steps to tighten immigration restrictions since a man from Afghanistan was accused of shooting two National Guard troops in Washington—killing one and critically injuring the other. Since then, the president has paused all asylum decisions and halted immigration applications from 19 countries of concern.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also said earlier this week that the United States plans to expand the number of countries facing travel bans and restrictions from 19 to more than 30.
