The appeal comes after the Supreme Court ruled President Donald Trump lacked the authority to impose tariffs under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said applications for refunds totaling 85 billion dollars had been accepted for processing as of May 22.

So far, the agency has directed the Treasury Department to issue 20.6 billion in refunds.

An estimated 330,000 importers could be eligible.
