President Donald Trump has drawn international praise for brokering the first phase of a peace plan between Israel and Hamas.

Both parties accepted the long-awaited ceasefire and hostage agreement overnight.

Under the newly reached Gaza peace deal, all the hostages in Gaza are expected to come home on Monday or Tuesday,

Trump, during his Cabinet meeting on Thursday, also acknowledged that the process to release them is a "complicated" one.

After both sides agreed, Trump took to social media to tout the historic breakthrough.

"This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace," Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115340993884364431">wrote on Truth Social</a>. "All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!"

A total of 48 hostages remain in Gaza, with 28 of them believed to still be alive, following more than two years of captivity.

The hostages will finally "emerge from the darkness," Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during Thursday's Cabinet meeting.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a <a href="https://x.com/netanyahu/status/1976073879635599624">statement</a> that he approved the plan, saying: "This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel."

Hamas said it had agreed to a deal that will lead to the end of the war in Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli troops, the entry of aid into Gaza, and the exchange of prisoners for hostages.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas praised the breakthrough.

"Abbas expressed hope that these efforts would be a prelude to reaching a permanent political solution, as announced by President Trump, leading to an end to the Israeli occupation of the State of Palestine and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," he wrote in a <a href="https://x.com/pmofa/status/1976181083910627377">statement</a>.

Trump said during his Cabinet meeting that the deal has brought the whole world together.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the agreement as a "profound moment" for everyone around the world, especially the hostages following two years of captivity.

"I welcome the news that a deal has been reached on the first stage of President Trump's peace plan for Gaza," <a href="https://x.com/keir_starmer/status/1976169698791395611?s=46&t=YxU6QG-ucSxcg75uCcqCDQ">Starmer said in a statement</a>. "This agreement must now be implemented in full, without delay, and accompanied by the immediate lifting of all restrictions on life-saving humanitarian aid to Gaza."

French President Emmanuel Macron said there is "great hope" for the hostages and their families. Macron added that the agreement must mark the end of the war and the beginning of a political solution based on the two-state solution

"I welcome the agreement reached overnight for the release of the hostages and the ceasefire in Gaza, and I commend the efforts of President <a dir="ltr" role="link" href="https://x.com/realDonaldTrump">@realDonaldTrump</a>, as well as the Qatari, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators who helped make it happen. I call on all parties to strictly uphold its terms," Macron <a href="https://x.com/emmanuelmacron/status/1976186371162148918?s=46&t=YxU6QG-ucSxcg75uCcqCDQ">wrote on X.</a>

Secretary-General of the U.N. António Guterres applauded the “desperately needed breakthrough” in the negotiations, urging all parties to fully abide by the terms of the agreement in <a href="https://x.com/antonioguterres/status/1976076944396485056" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" data-ylk="slk:a statement on X.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas" data-rapid_p="12" data-v9y="1">a statement on X.</a>

As international praise continues to pour in on Thursday, Trump said during his Cabinet meeting that he'll try to travel to Egypt next week for the signing of the ceasefire agreement.
