A new Wall Street Journal <a href="https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/documents/WSJ_Swing_States_Partial_March_2024.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> found that former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden in six critical swing states. This comes as voter discontent appears to be fueled by concerns about President Biden's job performance and economic management.

When asked which candidate they would support, voters in multiple states selected President Trump over President Biden.

Supporters were asked to choose between the two candidates; the poll reveals that President Trump led President Biden by five points in Arizona, one point in Georgia, three points in Michigan, six points in North Carolina, four points in Nevada, and three points in Pennsylvania. For Wisconsin, President Biden and President Trump were tied.

In six states, President Trump held a comparable lead to President Biden on a test ballot alongside four other independent and third-party candidates. However, the poll indicates President Biden has a three-point advantage over President Trump in Wisconsin.

With a plus or minus four percentage point margin of error, the survey was administered to 600 registered electors in each state from March 17 to March 24.

A majority of voters in all seven states expressed disapproval rather than approval of President Biden's job performance by 16 percentage points or more.

On the other hand, a margin of two points or more separated those who approved of President Trump's performance as president from those who disapproved in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Michigan. While President Trump's approval rating fell one point in Arizona, it remained unchanged in Wisconsin.

Another thing that could hurt President Biden in the 2024 race is the way he has handled the economy. The majority of respondents to the survey think President Trump, not President Biden, is the best candidate to deal with the economy, inflation, and growing prices.

This comes just days after a recent <a class="article-hover-class" href="https://apnorc.org/projects/few-excited-many-angry-and-fearful-about-biden-trump-reelection/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">poll</a> from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research indicated that most Democrats would be "extremely fearful" (66 percent) and "very angry" (60 percent) if the former president were to win a second term in 2024.

On the other hand, President Biden's victory would leave 49 percent of Republicans feeling "very afraid" and 45 percent "extremely angry."

The second term of President Trump is more likely to be met with satisfaction and excitement among Republicans than among Democrats over President Biden.

Regarding their expectations for President Trump's second term, 59 percent of Republicans are "very satisfied," and 54 percent are "very excited," according to the poll.

From the other major political parties, half of Democrats feel "very satisfied," and 40 percent are likely to be "very excited" about President Biden being in office for another four years.

As for President Biden's performance on the job, 38 percent of Americans are satisfied with it, while 61 percent disapprove. For his handling of the immigration crisis, border security, and the Israel-Hamas conflict, the president had an approval rating of about 30 percent, while for his handling of the economy, he received a rating of 37 percent.
