President Donald Trump on Friday <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i41Av4eYO8">delivered remarks</a> on his efforts to restore law and order and end the weaponization of the legal system at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The event marked his first visit, and the first by any president in a decade, to the DOJ.

Trump <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1900644336749961477">acknowledged</a> the federal prosecutors in the room, saying they will be tasked with carrying out the “historic reforms” to restore “fair, equal, and impartial justice.”

He also recognized Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel who will be “leading the way” in reshaping the department.

The president has long sought to revamp the department that indicted him and launched what he called a disinformation campaign against him. Trump accused the DOJ of targeting him and persecuting his family, supporters, and staff.

“They did everything in their power to prevent me from becoming the president of the United States,” the president said.

Trump took issue with the DOJ’s past actions against him, including an FBI search in 2022 of his Mar-a-Lago estate over classified documents. The federal cases were dismissed after Trump won the 2024 presidential election.

“Freedom won, justice won, democracy won, and above all, America won,” Trump said.

The president said that the DOJ has been riddled with corruption.

Trump discussed his actions against former prosecutors who he claimed weaponized the justice system and pardoned political prisoners.

Bondi has agreed that the DOJ must be reformed and depoliticized.

Trump added that law enforcement across the nation should be treated better and said he will always have their back. He also noted that he signed a separate executive order that directed the attorney general to pursue efforts to ensure that anyone who murders a law enforcement officer is “immediately” slapped with a death penalty sentence.

Friday’s event featured <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1900648653112434765">Anne Fundner,</a> the mother of 15-year-old teen Weston, who died after taking fentanyl-laced pills trafficked across the southern border.

Trump reiterated his ongoing efforts to hold other countries accountable for drug trafficking through tariffs already in place.

"In 2023 alone, drug overdoses killed more Americans in 12 months than they did during the entire decade between 1980–1990—I've placed large tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China and they will remain in place until these deadly poisons stop pouring into our country," <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1900647347572666543">he said</a>.

Trump in his remarks briefly discussed the assassination attempt against him during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, saying that his “ear is still throbbing” and called his survival “a miracle.”
