Former President Donald Trump's defamation trial continued in a Manhattan courtroom on Thursday, with E. Jean Carroll returning to the witness stand.

NTD spoke to Will Scharf, a former federal prosecutor and an attorney for President Trump, to find out more about the background to the trial.

"President Trump believes that this entire case is absolute garbage," said Mr. Scharf. "He denies really ever having met E. Jean Carroll, knowing who she is. It's worth noting that E. Jean Carroll's account of what happened has changed radically over the years. Until recently, she couldn't place the alleged incident beyond a decade. Now, suddenly, she's testifying as to the specific details of what allegedly happened."
