The United States has banned imports of all cotton and tomato products from China’s western Xinjiang region. It's the widest action yet to crack down on the use of forced labor of Uyghur Muslims. The ban applies to raw fibers, apparel, and textiles made from cotton grown in Xinjiang—which supplies 20 percent of the world's cotton. Tomato-based products from the region are also banned. It also applies to products processed or manufactured in third-party countries.
