The U.S. ambassador to China, David Perdue, posted a photo with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts on Tuesday.

Perdue says they’re committed to working together to protect key supply chains and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific.

China's relations with Japan worsened after the Japanese prime minister said Tokyo could intervene militarily if China invaded Taiwan.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping spoke with President Donald Trump over the phone on Monday about Taiwan. On the same day, the U.S. ambassador to Japan posted a photo with the Japanese defense minister, saying the United States always has the back of its most important ally in the Indo-Pacific.
