The unprecedented split-decision ruling from Colorado's supreme court to ban former President Donald Trump from the ballot in the upcoming GOP primaries has been met with consternation across the United States.

NTD spoke to Hans Von Spakovsky, manager of the Election Law Reform Initiative and senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, to find out his opinion on whether the U.S. Supreme Court will rule on the issue before Jan. 4.

"I just don't see how they can turn it down," he said.

"It is one of the most anti-democratic moves I have ever seen," said Mr. Von Spakovsky of the Colorado ruling. "In fact, this is the kind of thing that we ... the United States, sanction other countries for."

"In fact, we have sanctioned other countries—like Nicaragua and Venezuela—for kicking the opposition candidate off the ballot."
