Researchers say they’ve made a big breakthrough toward making nuclear fusion a viable source of energy. Right now most nuclear power comes from nuclear fission, but experts say fusion energy could be super cheap with estimates as low as 3 cents per kilowatt-hour. It could also be super clean and practically unlimited.

Nuclear fusion involves combining atomic nuclei, the same process that powers the sun.
