Medical protocols are the bedrock of our modern health care system. A protocol is a carefully crafted plan. It contains references and steps on how to follow through a medical procedure or treatment.
Hospitals, doctors, and nurses rely on these protocols to minimize any chance of errors. The information is always reviewed and updated because they are not always perfect.
When a new protocol is being developed, it needs to go through testing and be validated. And that was the problem during the pandemic. New protocols were established too fast, and the nurses we talked to say some of the COVID-19 protocols are killing patients. The worst part? A lot of health care professionals are turning a blind eye.
