The MetLife Sky bridge connects the Metropolitan Life buildings next to Madison Square Park in Manhattan’s flat iron district.

It’s located 12 stories above the ground and offers an unusual sight for tourists and residents alike.

The construction of the 2 buildings connected by the bridge started in 1928. Now, after almost a century the bridge has to go.

New York City Resident Alexa said, “a lot of neighborhoods change but part of what makes this one special is the architecture that has been around for many many decades.”

The bridge is being removed because the buildings were sold to developer SL green.

The company will add a new glass tower next to the clock tower.

The new tower is expected to be finished in 2024.

According to the developer, it will join the MetLife clock tower, 11 Madison, and the Flatiron Building as one of the many distinguished buildings that front Madison Square.
