When the World Trade Center was attacked, some 750 members of the New York City Fire Department plunged into the towers and the neighboring area for search and rescue. They paid no mind to the destruction raining down in Lower Manhattan. Only about half survived the day. Commissioner Dan Nigro looks back on that day.
