NYPD seeks public’s help on unsolved Central park explosion

The NYPD and the Bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives (ATF) are asking for the public’s help with the unsolved explosion in Central Park, nearly one year ago.

The department has increased the reward to $40,000 in hopes of gaining more information that could lead to an arrest.

The explosion blew off teenagers Connor Golden’s left foot, forcing him to amputate his leg.

The incident occurred when Golden jumped from the rocks near the Southeast entrance and landed on a homemade explosive device in a plastic bag.

The NYPD is still searching for more clues.

“To this date we have had an active and vigorous investigation. We’re tempting to ascertain who left this homemade explosive device hill are missing a lot of answers, we need a lot of information so we are reaching out to the public” says NYPD Detective Chief Robert Boyce.

The police are seeking more photos and videos taken near the location in the days and weeks before the explosion.

“We all have a common goal to keep our parks and public safe for all new yorkers and visitors alike. We need the public’s help to ensure the safety and ensure justice for the victim and his family,” says ATF Special Agent in charge, Ashan M. Benedict.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline or submit tips online.
