This video was taken February 10, 2017, when an underwater photographer came upon this battle between a red octopus and a swimmer crab. The animals battle it out for several minutes as the octopus chases the crab, but then things take a surprising turn…

The harbor seal that interrupted the battle is named Whiskers, and the divers were initially recording the seal. Apparently the seal recognized the divers and has long been using the photography lights to help hunt for fish.
The photographer said, “It was a great battle until Whiskers showed back up.”
