Amid cold weather and rising virus cases, some areas of the United States are considering another shutdown. But some state and federal officials still support schools staying open.
In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo says schools are almost without exception safer than local communities in terms of infection rate.
Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir says not only should children be in school, but they should be in school even before they’re vaccinated. Giroir also said if community spread of the CCP virus drops after the Christmas season, it will be even safer for children to get back to school.
