Omicron Surge May Strain Hospitals: Expert

It’s estimated that Omicron cases have surpassed those of the Delta variant in the U.S. Louisiana’s health department estimates that Omicron made up over 80 percent of the state’s new cases last week. But a new analysis shows the new strain may cause more infections but lower hospitalization rates. NTD spoke with Anthony Santella who is a doctor of public health and covid coordinator at the University of New Haven to learn more about the spread of this variant.
