Patch, a racehorse, had his left eye removed, but it hasn’t slowed him down a bit. He has adapted and proved his race worthiness. His trainer said the racehorse quickly adapted to life with one eye.

Todd Pletcher spoke about Patch’s virtues, “I kind of anticipated Patch would be pretty popular. It’s an intriguing story, having lost his eye as a 2-year-old. He’s a really really cool horse to be around, very laid back, very professional, very straightforward, easy to train, just a consummate pro.”

The horse qualified for the Kentucky Derby after a second place finish at the Louisiana Derby. In addition to having only one eye, Patch is inexperienced, having only raced twice. But Patch is the son of Belmont Stakes winner Union Rags, and has winning on his mind.

Whatever his performance in the Kentucky Derby, he’s getting attention and sure to win new fans along the way.
