Orangutan makes trade with a human in the zoo

I assure you that when you’ll see the orangutan in this video making a trade with a human, you’ll be shocked:

Orangutans are very clever animals. Many in the scientific community even consider them to be above chimpanzees when it comes to intelligence. Orangutans are capable of learning to use tools for sewing, making rain hats from leaves, and even understand the purpose of such actions. They form complex cultures, and demonstrate subtle social behaviors. These animals are also suspected of having morality and feelings.

Then it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the orangutan would understand the abstract meaning of fairness, which is a part of having an evolved sense of morality. Implications from scientific research is one thing, and seeing an orangutan behaving fairly is another thing.

If you liked this video you’ll certainly like a video about an orangutan kissing a belly of a pregnant woman 🙂
