Oregon Court: Gov. Can Release 1,000 Inmates

The Oregon Court of Appeals ruled Aug. 10 that Gov. Kate Brown has the authority to grant early releases to almost 1,000 convicted inmates, including 73 convicted of murder, assault, rape, and manslaughter.

The governor’s 2020 decision was challenged by two district attorneys and families of crime victims.
