Zooming in on human rights abuses in China.

Over 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by authorities across China from September to October.

Over 170 of the victims are seniors over 60 years old.

Falun Gong is a spiritual meditation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Its popularity exploded in China in the 1990s, to the point that about one in every 13 Chinese citizens was practicing it. In 1999, the Chinese regime launched a nationwide persecution campaign against the practice. Millions of practitioners were thrown in jail and tortured. At least 4,000 have been killed. An unclear number had their organs harvested by force.
