Can automation overcome labor shortages in farming?

According to the US Department of Labor of U.S. more than half of the country’s farm workers are illegal immigrants. 

With fewer workers coming from abroad due to tighter immigration policies, many farms may be stranded and fruits left to rot.

With the rapid invention of farm machinery to substitute the dwindling labor there is hope that farmers can address the dilemma they are facing now.
