Paintings worth $700,100 were stolen from an art gallery in New Zealand. The paintings were going to be auctioned this week. The surprising robbery took place at the International Art Centre in Auckland.

The paintings were painted by Czech artist Gottfried Lindauer, who specializes in paintings of Maori leaders. The paintings are of a husband and wife ruling Maori couple.
