Pair of huge colored diamonds sells for record price

A pair of diamond earrings sold at a Geneva Sotheby’s auction. The Apollo and Artemis pink and blue colored diamonds are large and one of a kind. They were sold to a private buyer who called in a bid. The earrings sold with a $57,425,000 price tag.

David Bennett, Worldwide Chairman Of Sotheby’s International Jewellery Division, spoke about the successful sale, “I think what this shows is that for fine jewels, for exceptional stones the market is still very strong, so we are very pleased with tonight’s sale. It was a lovely sale to take.”

Last month, a 59.60-carat pink diamond sold for a record $71.2 million in Hong Kong.
