Pandas in San Diego Offer Hints About US–China Ties

Two giant pandas from China have arrived in California, as the the San Diego zoo’s newest guests. Each of the bears, a male and a female, is on loan from China. For Beijing, Pandas have always played the role of a reward for friendly nations, or a punishment to highlight the regime’s anger.
