A Pennsylvania couple is facing multiple charges after their 11-month-old boy was found overdosed on fentanyl, state police said.

State troopers said the child’s parents, 31-year-old Charles R. Salzman Jr. and 30-year-old Kristen Bristow, had fallen asleep in a parked car after using the drug, reported the Patriot-News. Troopers were called to the scene at around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday after the couple found their child, who was also inside the car, ingested fentanyl when they were asleep.

The baby, who was unconscious and not breathing when he was found, was given three shots of anti-overdose drug Narcan before the emergency medical crew transported him to Al DuPont Hospital in Delaware, according to Patriot-News. He received treatment and is recovering from the overdose.

Salzman Jr. and Bristow are each facing charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, and other charges. They were booked at Chester County Prison.

1-Year-Old Revived From Fentanyl Overdose

A Florida woman was arrested last month for child neglect after a one-year-old girl in her custody overdosed on fentanyl.

On the evening of Aug. 10, the one-year-old was in the custody and care of 35-year-old Heather Revell, reported WFTS. Revell was at her home when she injected herself with heroin laced with the synthetic opioid fentanyl, she told deputies. She said she assumed she cleaned up the remains of the heroin as well as her drug paraphernalia.

However, the one-year-old became lethargic and unresponsive the next morning. Pasco Fire Rescue responded to the 911 call and determined the baby was suffering from an overdose.

Paramedics administered Narcan to the girl before taking her to the hospital. Deputies said it appears the overdose was stopped by the Narcan and she is expected to be ok.

Revell admitted to using heroin in the bedroom just feet away from the baby and told authorities she believed she did not clean up the remnants and the child ingested it.

Deputies did find heroin upon a search of the bedroom as well as several drug paraphernalia items.

She also admitted to having fentanyl in her purse. She admitted to using it to inject heroin laced with fentanyl on Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Office said it found used syringes and crushed Xanax in the home and fentanyl in Revell’s purse. She was being held at the Pasco County jail on Monday in lieu of a $12,150 bail.
