A woman who was traveling with her daughter to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia wants to find the passenger who gave up his first class seat for them.
Kelsey Rae Zwick and her daughter, Lucy, experienced the kind gesture while flying on American Airlines Flight 588 from Orlando to Philadelphia.
They had boarded the flight and sat down after lugging aboard a diaper bag and oxygen machine.
“Not able to hold back tears, I cried my way up the aisle while my daughter Lucy laughed! She felt it in her bones too… real, pure, goodness. I smiled and thanked you as we switched but didn’t get to thank you properly,” said Zwick in a Facebook post.
“Sooo… thank you. Not just for the seat itself but for noticing. For seeing us and realizing that maybe things are not always easy. For deciding you wanted to show a random act of kindness to US. It reminded me how much good there is in this world.”
“I can’t wait to tell Lucy someday. In the meantime… we will pay it forward. We truly feel inspired by your generosity,” she added.
Zwick later wrote that the moment caught her off guard.
“I was so overwhelmed with emotion!!! Caught me totally off guard,” she said.
Facebook Reactions as Post Goes Viral
Friends posting on Zwick’s Facebook post said they also appreciated what the passenger did.
“So loving and this post made me cry. There are so many wonderful and caring people out there. I thank that man along with you,” wrote Stephanie Bronstein Finn.
“Thank you Passenger 2D for showing kindness to my beautiful friend who, despite her smiles and brave face, was carrying a heavy load of stress on her shoulders and in her heart. It is very truly the little things that mean the most,” added Elizabeth Baker.
“My heart is so touched. Kelsey emulates kindness and positivity and will forever deserve those two qualities back from others. I can’t explain how much this family and Kelsey means to me. Thank you, passenger 2D. Your act of kindness today goes beyond the switching of seats it’s touched many,” added Meg McKinley.
The Facebook post had been shared widely, more than 178,000 times, garnering over 280,000 reactions at the time of this publication.
To the man in 2D. Today you were traveling from Orlando to Philly. I don’t know you, but I imagine you saw us somewhere….

Children’s Hospital
It’s not clear what Zwick’s daughter is being treated for at the children’s hospital. She wrote in August that she had Lucy and her twin Eva at just 29 weeks at a NICU unit in Florida. She recently posted a picture informing people of World TTTS Awareness Day.
According to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Fetal Center, TTTS stands for Twin-Twin Transfusion Children.
“Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is a rare, serious condition that can occur in pregnancies when identical twins share a placenta. Abnormal blood vessel connections form in the placenta and allow blood to flow unevenly between the babies,” the center stated.
“One twin—called the donor—becomes dehydrated; and the other—called the recipient—develops high blood pressure and produces too much urine and over fills the amniotic sac.”
