London Mayor Sadiq Khan pledged not to expand London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone into a “pay-per-mile” scheme if he returns to office after May’s election. But in January 2022, he said that pay-per-mile is “inevitable,” although he added the technology is not there to go ahead with it yet.
