Journalists that investigated the use of spyware known as Pegasus have won the top award at the European Union’s prize for journalism. A group of 17 associations were involved in the investigation, led by Paris-based journalism group Forbidden Stories. British newspaper The Guardian was among those 17. Some governments used Pegasus, developed by an Israeli company, to hack the phones of journalists, human rights activists, and some leading political figures.
