Former senior Trump administration adviser Peter Navarro says he will continue fighting, as his legal team is set to appeal a conviction handed down against him on Thursday for not appearing at a Jan. 6 Congressional Committee hearing.

Speaking over a handful of loud detractors, Navarro said this case has a “constitutional disconnect” and is “destined to go to the Supreme Court” after he was sentenced to 4 months in prison and handed a $9,500 fine for contempt of Congress. He told reporters in front of a U.S. district courthouse in Washington that senior presidential advisers cannot be compelled to testify, and that the case involves matters of the separation of powers and the “integrity of presidential decision-making.”

When asked if he was expecting a pardon in 2025 if former President Donald Trump wins the presidency, Navarro said he was not.
