At a local market in Shenzhen, a “legless” beggar was spotted sliding around asking residents for some spare change.
However, something about the man seems to have made some locals a little suspicious. With smartphone in hand, they followed the beggar into a deserted alley and watched the metamorphosis as the man cast off his dirty rags and emerged with two working legs.
Outraged at the man’s duplicity, locals’ sympathy for the man vanished, and they called the cops on him.
Who can you trust these days? Back in July, an “armless” beggar in Yiwu was exposed as having arms by a security guard. While begging isn’t everyone’s dream profession, it can be comparatively lucrative if done right. The Sohu report on the incident claims that the “legless” beggar was taking in around 10,000 yuan per month.
Of course, this kind of money sounds much better when all you have to do is fake your missing limbs or physical deformities. Unlike many young beggars in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, who were kidnapped and crippled before being sent to Malaysia by Chinese gangs.
