A pizza delivery woman was given a big surprise when she delivering her order to a church in Chicago.

Monique Hall is a single mother who works as a pizza deliverer to support her kids. She was making her delivery to a local Chicago church on Sunday, expecting it to be a quick visit. However, she was brought up to the stage during the church’s service.

Pastor Wilfredo De Jesús was, for the duration of that month, teaching people about the value of honoring people, as well as challenging them to do so. He ordered pizza on that Sunday’s service in order to put what he preached into practice, with every intention of surprising and honoring the person who delivered the pizza.

Honor People

For the month of February, we have been challenging our church to honor people. So Pastor Wilfredo De Jesús ordered a pizza with intentions of surprising the delivery person. She walked on stage and was clueless of what was going on. Hope you enjoy this video. Please share to spread the message of honoring people. #mynewlifeorg

When Hall arrived on to the stage, unaware of what was going on, the pastor asked her what she was tipped for her deliveries, she said she usually got tipped $5. That was when the pastor reached into his own pockets and pulled out a number of bills, and started counting them as he put them into Hall’s hands. She only stood there, watching in shock as he gave her a $100-dollar tip.

By the time he finished counting, he told her that the money he put into her hands were hers to keep.

Furthermore, he had another surprise waiting for her—he called upon some of the people at the service and told them to come up to the stage. As waves of people came up to the stage, they started piling more and more tips into Hall’s hands, and all she could do was stare, overcome with emotion. She cried as they kept on coming with tips, and in the end, she was given far more than her average tip.

#MustWatch The most powerful interview on tv that I have been a part of in maybe forever.

In an interview with WGN9, Hall said she was nervous and did not understand why people would stand up for a pizza delivery person.

When asked how she felt, she said, “I definitely wasn’t expecting it, but I knew that I had been struggling for a long time being a single parent, and not having their father in their life, [it’s] a real damper on you, especially trying to make ends meet.”

She was a single mother, raising two children on her own, and her kids were without another provider or father figure.

She said that when the people came up to the stage to give her the tips for delivering the pizza, she said, “I was overwhelmed and I was shocked. I felt so loved by them—all I could do was cry.”

The delivery woman told WGN that she made sure to spread the church's message by sharing the tips she received with her coworkers.

By the time she completed her delivery, she not only received a large tip, but she also received a Bible from Pastor Wilfredo.

“We wanted to let you know, here at New Life Covenant Church, that whether you have a church to worship in or not, we want you to know that you’re welcome here. You’ll always remember this day that you were marked by God,” said Pastor Wilfredo, during the prayer. “It could have been any other restaurant, any other person, but it was you.”

Pastor Wilfredo said that Hall had been chosen by God.

“We realize that this element of honor has missing in our culture. A lot of the problem in our culture is because of this lack of honor,” Pastor Wildredo said, when he was asked to talk about his church. “If we could bring this back to our culture, we believe that life would be a little bit different—of honoring people, of honoring our government, our God, and our fellow men.”

Pastor Wilfredo pointed out the video, and added that honoring people was contagious.

“Really, I asked for 10 people, and really, I just thought that, they were [at] the 12 o’clock service, let’s see what happens when I say to the church, ‘hey, can I get 10 people,” and you saw the response of that,” he said.

Hall told the WGN that she made sure to spread the church’s messages by sharing the money she received to her co-workers.

“I felt like some of my co-workers were just the same as me, in the same place,” Hall said. “So it was only right that I give to them, since I was given to.”
