Authorities say no one was injured when a small plane made an emergency landing on a Southern California beach Thursday morning.

California State Parks says there were three people on board the plane when it landed on Carlsbad Beach, and all got out safely.

KGTV television reported that the pilot of the Piper PA-28 reported engine problems after taking off from Montgomery Field in San Diego, headed to John Wayne Airport in Orange County.
