An entire family was nearly wiped out in a tragic crime that happened in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Police arrested a 21-year-old man over a Dec. 5 triple murder that took the lives of a woman and her two children.

The Little Rock Police Department confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in an updated video announcement, that 21-year-old William Alexander was sent to prison in the case.

According to his record at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, Alexander was booked at 6:15 p.m. Monday on three counts of Capital Murder.

The three bodies of mother Mariah Cunningham, 24, and her two children: A’Laylaih Fisher, 5, and Elijah Fisher, 3, were found inside their home located at Rosewood Apartments off Lancaster near 65th Street, FOX16 reported.

As of writing police had not yet revealed the cause of the victim’s deaths or the motive behind it.

Lieutenant Crystal Haskins said that the department hopes the arrest will bring some closure to the family.

“I want to say to the community justice has prevailed today as well as extend our deepest condolences to the family we hope that this will bring a measure of comfort to you. We want to thank the community for their assistance in this. We couldn’t have done it alone,” Haskins said Tuesday.

In the video update, police also said that the case is still ongoing and that they do anticipate additional arrests to be made.

Just days earlier, the police department asked for the public’s help in locating the murderer. They offered a $50,000 Reward for information leading to the arrest of person(s) involved in the Triple Homicide of Mariah and her two children.

Family members commented under the department’s announcement writing “Thank you all so so much. On behalf of the family, please know that we appreciate your hard work!!!”
