An orangutan was locked in a cage for 2 years. Kotap is 4 years old and he has lived in a wooden cage for most of his life. He was recently freed by an animal rescue organization in Western Borneo.

“Whenever he sees strangers he gets a little bit aggressive so we are just trying to keep a distance between him and the people who are curious about him,” said Sulhi Aufa a veterinarian from International Animal Rescue .

Kotap has been transferred to a rehabilitation center where he will stay in quarantine. Eventually, he will meet other rescued orangutans and together they will return to the forest.
