A poor sweeper who was photographed staring at expensive jewelry through a window and mocked in an Instagram post found himself to be surprisingly showered with gifts by a kind community.
It looks like a big plan of fate – Nazer al-Islam Abdul Karim, a 65-year-old cleaner from Bangladesh was admiringly looking at luxury jewelry through the window of an upmarket store in Riyadh. Someone sadistic clicked a photo of him and posted it on Instagram with a rude caption.
“I was just doing my job as a cleaner in the municipality and found myself in front of the gold shop,” Nazer told CNN in an interview.
The caption translated: This man deserves to look at only rubbish.
The picture and the ill-will behind it caught the attention of people online. It started with Abdullah Al-Qahtani, whose twitter account ‘Insaneyat‘ means “humanitarianism” in Arabic. Abdullah tweeted a screenshot of the Instagram image and asked people for help to locate the poor, old man.
Through the details of a shop reflected in the window in the picture, a clever and kind hearted person was able to locate his whereabouts.
In response to the ill-will the community then showered him with jewelry from the shop he was staring at, money, honey, rice bags, two smartphone – an iPhone 7 and a Samsung galaxy and return flights to Bangladesh.
“I am very happy about the gifts and very thankful,” Nazer said.
