President Donald Trump stayed in his Manhattan penthouse for the first time since his inauguration Monday night.

His three-day trip to Trump Tower is part of a two-week “working vacation,” according to Press Secretary Lindsay Walters, as the White House undergoes renovations.

President Trump has been “working hard,” from his New Jersey home in Bedminster, according to his tweet on Aug. 7.

Working hard from New Jersey while White House goes through long planned renovation. Going to New York next week for more meetings.

Despite the massive security needed around the president’s visit, the New York  Police Department says it is confident in its ability to handle the job.

“Let me state the obvious, the NYPD is prepared. There’s no police force in the world that does a better job of handling presidential visits than the NYPD. We’ve been planning closely with the Secret Service, and we are ready for any eventuality,” said New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio.

New York transit operator, the MTA, has issued advisories that traffic will affect bus routes throughout Manhattan and other locations until Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The cost to secure a presidential visit doesn’t come cheaply. According to a memo from NYC Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill in February, it cost the city an average of $308,000 per day to secure Trump Tower during the time period between the election and inauguration.
