President Trump called James Comey a “leaker” on June 9.

The former FBI director had testified before the Senate Intelligence committee the day before and accused Trump of trying to drop an investigation and lying.

Breaking his silence for the first time since Comey’s hearing, the president tweeted:

“Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication … and WOW, Comey is a leaker!”

The tweet echoed the points made by Trump’s private lawyer: The president himself was not under investigation, but Comey revealed their conversation to a friend who leaked it to the media.

Trump fired Comey on May 9.

Trump stopped short of saying that Comey lied under oath at the hearing on June 8.
