President Trump calls for tougher travel ban after London attacks

President Trump said a tougher version of his travel ban is necessary through a series of tweets on Monday.

“The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original travel ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.,” the president tweeted.

“The Justice Dept. should ask for an expedited hearing of the watered down travel ban before the Supreme Court – & seek much tougher version!”

His comments come after a terrorist attack in London.

Last week, Trump’s legal team asked the Supreme Court to allow his March 6 executive order to take effect immediately.

The order blocks citizens of six countries from entering the United States. It had been blocked by lower courts.

The proposed ban is the centerpiece of Trump’s presidential campaign. He said it is necessary to protect Americans from terrorist attacks.
