President Donald Trump says he’s “proud” to support the House GOP health care bill and hopes Congress will pass it very quickly.

Speaking during a meeting with the House Deputy Whip team, Trump said the existing Obama-era health care law is “collapsing” and will implode if it isn’t replaced.

Trump said he was elected in part because of the call for a repeal and replacement of ‘Obamacare,’ and he said the new bill will be “much more popular than people can even imagine.”

But many conservative groups and lawmakers are already opposing the plan, saying it keeps too many elements of the law that became known as “Obamacare.”

The group of House lawmakers present at the White House meeting were those tasked with rounding up votes for legislation.

He says the health care plan will ensure access for all Americans.
