President Trump thanks fallen soldiers for the freedom they protected

President Donald Trump honored America’s fallen heroes on Memorial Day, May 29, in an address at Arlington National Cemetery.

“To every Gold Star family, God is with you,” the president said. “And, your loved ones are with him. They died in war so that we could live in peace. I believe that God has a special place in Heaven for those who laid down their lives so that others may live free from fear and this horrible oppression.”

Trump specifically mentioned one soldier, Special Forces Captain Andrew Byers, who was killed in Afghanistan saving other soldiers.

His parents David and Rose Byers were in the audience.

“To his parents, David and Rose, we stand in awe of your son and his courageous sacrifice, on behalf of the American people I express to you our everlasting gratitude for what your son did for his country, for his comrades, and for all of us.,” the president said.
