Prince Harry was only 12 when his mother Diana died. She was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997. More than a decade later, a 20-something Harry sought counseling to cope with her death.
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, the British royal said he had come “very close to a complete breakdown.”
This came after he tried to shut down his emotions.
Harry’s older brother Prince William had encouraged him to seek help. The younger prince visited a therapist several times. He also took up boxing to help deal with aggression.
Diana married heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles in 1981. The couple divorced in 1996. She died the following year after her car crashed while being chased by paparazzi on motorbikes.
