Prince Philip joins Grenadier Guards for Black Sunday memorial

Prince Philip watched the Grenadier Guards during their ceremony to remember fallen soldiers. The ceremony took place at the Wellington Barracks in London’s St. James’s Park. The ceremony is also known as Black Sunday.

The ceremony consists of marching band music, wreath laying, marching formation displays, and a memorial service.

Prince Philip is considered the colonel of the Grenadier Guards. One of the Grenadier Guards’ uniforms consists of suits, bowler hats, and umbrellas. Prince Philip also sported one of their bowler hats.

The Grenadier Guards is an elite infantry unit. They are most noticeable when guarding royal residences while wearing tall bearskin hats and red tunics.
